Family and Children's Dentistry

Developing a healthy dental regimen starts with finding the right dentist for you and your family. At Dr. Delwiche’s office, we strive to meet every family’s needs. From your very first visit, we will begin to build a relationship with you and your children to provide the best care possible going forward.

Family-Friendly Dental Care

We make a dedicated effort to ensure that our office is a children-friendly environment, while also maintaining sensitivity toward family needs. We are happy to give your children a tour of the office to introduce them to our friendly team and demonstrate our dental instruments.

Your children will be delighted to learn that our low-stress office even has TVs that they can watch during appointments. For those who need extra assistance relaxing for their visit, we do offer sedation dentistry.

Our team is well-versed in providing family care and “taking the edge off” a dentist visit for kids. We will change your whole dental experience and make it truly pleasant for your entire family.

Modern, Comfortable Dentistry

Our team is committed to continuing education to implement the most advanced technology at our fingertips. New technology enables us to literally change the face of dentistry, creating new, simple ways to provide treatment. For example, a root canal – and many other similar procedures – no longer has to be dreaded. We can now perform once painful procedures comfortably, quickly and effectively.

Preventive Care

At our office, we believe strongly in the power of preventive care through regular cleaning and checkups. This allows us to support good dental health and hygiene, while identifying small issues before they escalate into major problems. If you take your car in for an oil change and tune-up at least twice a year, doesn’t your smile deserve the same?

During a regular checkup, we provide a comprehensive cleaning of your teeth and gums and also scan for any developing problems. Observing a problem like tooth decay or gum disease in early stages prevents additional damages, enabling us to use a variety of treatment options.

The necessity of regular checkups for your children is just as important – if not greater. A child’s mouth is constantly in flux as their teeth grow, fall out and regrow. We encourage parents to give our office the opportunity to verify that each stage in this development occurs as it should. Later in life, we can refer your children to excellent orthodontists, if necessary.

Specialty Care

Dr. Delwiche’s office strives to provide a large array of services to you and your family so that you can receive the majority of your dental care in one place with a team you trust. However, if specialty services are required that our office cannot provide, we will refer you to an excellent local specialist that we work with and trust.

Call our office today to schedule an appointment for you or your child. We look forward to providing you and your family with high-quality dental care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We understand that some of our patients have fear and anxiety related to the dentist, and we want to make sure that they have access to high quality dental care just like everybody else. In addition to basic relaxation options such as heated massage chairs and televisions to help distract you, Dr. Delwiche is skilled in the use of both nitrous oxide and oral sedation.

Sedation dentistry is an excellent choice if you suffer from dental anxiety. You will remain conscious during the entire procedure; the gentle sedation options we offer simply relax you and make even long procedures seem shorter. You will feel very relaxed and calm and may not even remember the procedures afterwards but will be fully awake and able to communicate with the staff if you need to.

Dr. Delwiche will work with you to decide what sedation techniques will work best for you. We can even use a combination of oral sedation and nitrous oxide if necessary. Remember, oral sedation will leave you groggy for a while after your appointment, and you will need transportation to and from our office.

To find out if sedation dentistry is right for you, please don't hesitate to give us a call!

Absolutely! We love treating kids, and kids love coming to see us. We make it easy for your entire family to get the same high quality care in one convenient location. Call today to schedule an appointment for you child!

Acidic Erosion

Enamel is one of the densest substances in the body, even more than bone. It is highly resistant to the wear and tear we put on it each and every day. In addition to the mechanical action of chewing, grinding and clenching our teeth, acidic erosion is another way our teeth can be harmed by our daily habits. Acids are substances with a low pH, where as bases have a high pH. Water is neutral with a pH of 7.  When we think about the acids that can be harmful to our teeth, most people think of soda, sports drinks and sour candies.  Some people are surprised to learn that ...

Do I Really Need to Have My Wisdom Teeth Taken Out?

Third molars, most commonly known as wisdom teeth, usually erupt at about age 17, however this can vary from person to person and sometimes they don’t erupt at all. Some people are even born without wisdom teeth, or sometimes have some of them but not all four.

Oftentimes the wisdom teeth become impacted which can lead to several different problems. Impaction means that the tooth cannot fully erupt into its proper spot in the jaw. Many, many generations ago, the human skull was larger than it is today and could accommodate all 32 teeth including the wisdom teeth. Through evolution, the human skull and jaw has become a lot smaller and ...
